This is a modern reproduction of “Japan’s oldest denim,” first produced in Japan in the 1940s.
Using FOB’s technology and modern weaving machines, this 13.75oz selvedge denim reproduces the first denim produced in Japan at that time, with a deep indigo color and a three-dimensional look. The “new vintage” look of the denim will develop your own unique bite and fading as you wear them, and they will become your one and only pair of jeans in the world.
The wide silhouette is narrowed around the waist and hips to give you a stylish silhouette without being too fussy.
FOB FACTORY
Inspired by vintage clothing, FOB FACTORY is based in Kojima, Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture, one of Japan’s leading production centers. They oversee all processes in Japan, aiming to create clothes that customers will appreciate three years after purchase.
Revival of Japan’s First Denim Fabric
Using modern looms and F.O.B’s expertise, they faithfully recreate denim fabric first produced in Japan in the 1940s. Back then, denim production and rope dyeing techniques were limited, resulting in a distinct fabric with natural indigo dye and unique texture.
The unique atmosphere of those days is reproduced using today’s advanced technology, resulting in a “new vintage denim” look. The denim fabric with a slightly bluish and natural texture has been sublimated into jeans with a sophisticated impression and a little bit of cleanliness.
They use 13.75oz selvedge denim, which is typical thickness, but the one-wash process softens it and eliminates the usual stiffness, while at the same time guaranteeing excellent color fading over time.
Preserving Vintage Details
The front features a zipper fly from UNIVERSAL and donut buttons, showcasing antique metal parts and stitch colors.
The back includes a white tab made from DuPont’s Tyvek, removable by cutting stitches.
Folding the hem reveals the characteristic selvedge denim detail known as “red ear,” adding a classical look and relaxed vibe.
Stress-Free Fit
Unlike traditional wide fits, they slightly taper the waist and hips for a cleaner silhouette without bulkiness. The balanced rise ensures comfortable wear without stress, and the fabric’s moderate thickness makes it suitable year-round.
